You have to load the layer first then use the import tool. The drop-
down box only contains OGR/PostGIS layers that are currently on the
map canvas.
2) Since the program crached once I'm not able to open either a
shape file or a postgis layer any more, QGIS craches immediately.
What were you doing when it crashed? You may have to delete your qgis
preferences from the registry to clean things up.
