Well, to be precise the model *is* instantiated, just not activated.

Which brings another thought: couldn't we take it one step further and allow the model to be created without having to instantiate it even? I mean, there's nothing in the visualizer that requires an actual application instance, is there? Then we could change the ApplicationFactory to ApplicationModelFactory, which creates a bound ApplicationModel, which is then instantiated by the Energy4Java bootstrap. Then we can also move the hibernation part out of the ApplicationFactory, so that it's separated properly.
