hi,

This is the last of what I figured out on the plane back from Bali. Pretty
interesting stuff in my view, and it doesn't seem all that hard to
implement.

Comments on this?

it sure all /sounds/ good :-)

do you have a sense of what other systems are at all similar in their
structure? would they offer any insights into pros/cons?

Well, as indicated in the first post there's not much in what I wrote that is really original. EventSourcing is a known pattern, BASE comes from eBay, CAP is Amazon stuff, and then Greg Young has talked about all of this quite a lot on the DDD mailing list. For the REST part it is mostly my impressions of Jim Webber's and Ian Robbinson's talks about how they are using REST @ ThoughtWorks for UK financial institutions (=the feed with changes). Most of the rest, with regard to backups, replication etc. is just logical conclusions from that.

In other words, nothing new in terms of the pieces, but we're putting it all together here along with the already strong APIs and SPIs. In terms of pro's and con's I think we will just have to find out. But if you look at the "feature list" of what can be achieved with the scheme I described there's also the question of "how else would you achieve all that?". :-)
