It seems that the servlet is loaded/unloaded/reloaded to Google's taste. If the load peaks, more instances will be started up, and as soon as the load of each instance drops, the servlet is unloaded. For very low loads (like me clicking around casually) it also seems that the servlet is reloaded every couple of minutes (may 10min or so). If I create a EntityStore for AppEngine's data storage, I might be able to create a more elaborat analysis of it. Right now it is a lot of GutFeeling, filled with info from Docs and Forums. > Sounds close to useless to me... I think so too.
