I think you answered it yourself. :-) What you describe is probably already the way it works. When I write my domain code, it doesn't use any Composites, only Mixin Types. And I have the assembly of the application in a different Maven module than where the domain code lives, and potentially there could be multiple assemblies of the "same" app for different usages, web, osgi, standalone server, desktop client...
