It looks like I need to cancel this release, due to Maven seemingly
doing the wrong thing when one tries to release from a branch.
Effectively, it first clones the repository, then tries to 'pull' the
release tag instead of checking it out. (Well, at least that is the
first problem I can't get around).

So, I will abort this release (sorry!), and instead invest my time in
getting away from Maven. Gradle is what I have been eyeing for a while
and the fact that Hibernate and Spring Security has moved, gives me
enough confidence that it is capable enough. Also, these projects give
enough of sample Gradle setup for me to get going.
