Thank you both for your prompt replies.
Especially thank you for pointing me at the streamflow sources - I didn't
realise they were publicly available. They should give me sufficient
pointers for to get me on my way. (ps. I also didn't know about jdesktop,
which is cool).
I hope I'll be able to share some of what I do with the community in the
future.
