Hello Kai, thanks for your comments,
There is no mechanism in Qizx for Referential Integrity (RI) to date. RI is not AFAIK a notion defined in XML standards. References within or between XML documents can use several mechanisms: ID/IDREF attributes, XLinks, ... and diverse proprietary methods. There has been propositions to add specifications of RI constraints into XQuery but there is no consensus so far about what it should be. So the short answer is that RI constraints in XML dbs should be handled at the level of applications. BTW some people consider that even in RDBMS basic RI mechanisms are not always sufficient, so RI needs to be handled at application level. best regards -- Xavier Franc Qizx design and development On Wed, 02 Feb 2011 01:30:11 +0100, Kai Tischler <k...@kaitischler.de> wrote: > Hello dear Pixware Team ! > > I have just revisited Your Qizx Native XML Database; and got the > impression that one can > seriously use it as the Persistence Engine for all kinds of (web 2.0) > apps. > > I'm not a seasoned DB developer myself; so I would rather use a native > XML DB + XQuery > than a RDBMS + SQL. > > But what about 'Referential Integrity' for instance ?
