Finally got the CF reader working on the Q60 (yo-hoo! Pheobus) I tried a few different partitioning schemes:
My CF card is 32Mb. (Seems mkpart expects the drive to be partitioned to be mounted at win1_) 1) I created 3 QWA partitions of 10431 sectors each (about 5.06 Mb) and 1 XGM partition for the remaining sectors. Then I formatted ALL 4 partitions from SMSQ getting a total of 48Mb! Of course, trying to fill up the last 15 Mb of the 4th (30 Mb) partition led to some complaints from SMSQ ;) If I marked partitions as SWP or LNX instead of XGM, trying to format them was, as you would expect, rejected by SMSQ. 2) I created 3 10431 sector QWA partitions, booted into Linux and used atari-fdisk to add two more partions and marked them QWA too. Ie, there were now 3 primary QWA partitions and 2 secondary QWA partitions in an XGM extended partition wrapper, all legally done via non-expert mode fdisk. Booting Smsq60 again, the first 3 partitions were seen and formattable, as expected, but the last two displayed the same symptoms as demonstrated in (1) above ie, they showed up as a single 30Mb partition, and not as 2 QWA partitions of 5 and 10Mb respectively. I could not get Smsq60 to see any extended partitions although, as RZ has demonstrated to me, there appears to be some XGM parsing code in Smsq60. Unless anyone else has had better success, it appears that we are limited to 4 QWA partitions per drive with the present state of the software. 3) Finally, I created 3 QWA partitions of 10431 sectors each, booted Linux and created 3 LNX partitions with fdisk. Tried them out in Linux - all ok. Booted Smsq60 and see the 3 QWA partitions, as expected. However, there is no error trapping if I map the 4th partition (which is, as above, labled as XGM) and so could potentially wipe out any Linux partitions by mistake. Beware! On another tack: Neither WIN_WP nor WIN_REMV appear to work in Smsq60. Per
