Display one of the 41K beasts and watch it say "downloading..." and then hope your anti virus is better than mine. There is a setting in Lookout Excess somewhere which says "automatically download in preview pane" or something like that. Turn it off! I learned to both turn that off and close the preview pane, that way I can check who the email is from before opening it.
Better still ... when you can get around to it is to change your Mail software to something else.
There are many excellent ones to choose from.
