Set bit #30 to indicate that the keys given in 16..19 have shifted to bits
24..27, that way wed at least be covered until 32-bit colour arrives... Or
better, perhaps, set some bits between 24 and 30 to indicate that the scan
colour of a mode keyed in those bits is to be found in an additional
register, the meaning of the remaining keys being the same. Provided that
the legacy trap code  ignores those bits, and that no programmer has stored
any other information in those bits, this upgrade would be transparent.
