Look at Brother printers with DOS support. There are still quite a few options. Maybe not the very cheapest ones, but there really is a lot of choice. There are still a lot of legacy DOS applications around.The problem here is how to turn the emulation on, I recall trying to do this a while ago and could not do it. It does not work by just printing to it. The Kyocera lasers did work though. Text from Quill printed out quite well with a few oddities which could be fixed with a few translations. Trouble was I had little time to test it.
Now obviously, these don't support ESC/P2, but I think they have some PCL variant.
