The "challenge" of serial leads was solved over a decade ago (8-)#
Of course to work fast reliably (ie above 4800 bps) it needs Hermes or
superHermes.

Indeed.  You "re-solved" that a couple of years ago in this very list.

This is a "problem" that never seems to go away.
