Agreed, much better. The last one wasnt too bad either. I do miss your digest of some of the highlights on this list in the Quanta rag ;) Sometimes theres so much going on that not everyone can afford to read everything, and often there will be discussion that may interest (and entice) those not already connected. I know it must take up a lot of time, but for me at least it was well worth it ;)
When Roy first started as editor he did ask me to monitor the list on his behalf, but I found almost impossible to do. You are talking about 2 entirely different types of publication which don't easily marry together. Think how many complete Quanta Magazines you could fill with all of the ProForma thread!
Basically you can report this group in two ways. One is to use the "raw" data in which case the content dominates the magazine. You have to select the subject matter and most subjects are only of interest to a limited number of members. Also this group's content tends to be mainly by active developers and probably contains too much technical detail for many of the magazine readers.
The other way is to make a summary of a subject. This is what I attempted to do, but failed miserably. This is a time consuming activity that is not helped by the lack of discipline on the list when we are bad snippers or fail to keep to the subject line.
In short I know of no way of reporting this list effectively. If someone else does, I am sure Roy would be pleased to have the content.
BTW Roy has subscribed to the list in the past, but is not a current subscriber,
Best wishes, Geoff
