IIRC the romdisq uses a form of addressing similar to the miracle hard disk where data is output on selected bits of the address line during a second address cycle or something. As you have found out, most EPROMs don't work in the 16K slot with Trump Card, hence why Miracle and presumably Tony Tebby had to resort to a fairly roundabout way of writing to the EPROM slot, plus I think that the QL EPROM slot cannot write in the normal way, to write to the EPROM slot you cannot just write data to the 16K slot in the normal way.
