Hi Michael,

I have had a quicklook at the QTPI HTML manual, it defines the COMS DEV
section of the Preferences Menu for non-standard serial devices like:

Comm Dev: ser3_b38.4k_u2k_t_u2k
This defines the Superhermes SER3 to run at 38400 Baud. Since standard QL
serial ports are defined historical as SER1/2 upto 19200 Baud. This is
becuase QTPI was written before faster serial handling. But Jonathan Hudson
put the COMMS DEV section into QTPI to allow any faster custom serial ports
that were available. It would seem that a serial port on Qx0,QTPI, Atari QL,
QXL that can set a baud rate greater than 19200 Baud is non-standard from
the view of QTPI. If your modem is connected to SER2 then insert in the COMS
DEV section:SER2hrthen set the baud rate with: BAUD 2,115200 this will lock
the serial speed on the Q40 to 115200 Baud. Which is the speed of the cable
from the Q40 to the modem. The modem has its own baud rate setting, usually
the fastest speed it can connect at. ----- Original Message -----
