OK I hold my hands up - it has been so long since I actually needed to look at this program.
You are right it will report DIR_SELECT$ cannot be found IF: 1) You do not have menu_rext present 2) You have not configured the HELP_obj program to set the correct directory for the location of the help topics - normally win1_BASIC_ As it includes its own boot file to install the files to win1_BASIC_ I guess this bug has never been found !!
