Belated Happy New Year to you all.

Well, my Aurora finally arrived and I'm now in the process of putting
it all back together.

The first thing I've noticed is the CD Rom Drive has seen better days,
the buttons are
sunken ( which may be fixable ) but when i tried to insert a cd ( auto
loader ). It wasn't
hungry and decided to sink it's teeth into the once nice shiny disc so
there is now an additional
wide arc'd set of scratches, not a good start.

however, whilst i haven't attached a monitor as yet ( no external SVGA
connector but there does
appear to be something that looks like one dangling loose on the inside
! ), There is a TTL connector
so i shall use that. I hope to attach a PC monitor at some point so i
can 'share' my monitor in work
with my QL ( need a KVM switch for that ).... don't tell the boss !

I do have a couple of question which I'm hoping someone will know he
answer to.

Can i mearly replace this CD drive with any old PC rom drive assuming
the connectors
are the same.

There is a small thin black wire coming off the superHermes that has
what looks like a small screwdriver at the end
but is in fact a Hook of sorts. I assume i need to attach this hook
onto something (the case? earth?).

I managed to snap one of the legs from the SGC battery ( don't ask )
and have ordered a new one but an i
correcting in thinking that i could happily use the SuperHermes minus
the battery in place, accepting the lack of
date time being remembered etc.

OK, I'm out of questions for the moment, no doubt I'll have more.

Thank You

Neil
