Aha,  I guess this could be relevant "The Aurora has been designed with
SuperHermes in mind, 
so instead of the flying lead, you have to put a jumper ( wool or
nylon? :-) on the two pins you 
will find right beside the ZX8302 chip. to the left of it and along the
edge of the Aurora board. 
This jumper has the same function as the flying lead, so you  do not
have to use it any more"

I guess that answers the hook question.

I used to have one of these ( still do ) I think best NOT to connect
the 
hook to earth or case. think we need Tony  to interrupt here, pretty
sure it 
is to do with SH and maybe the clock battery ( could be wrong it was a
time 
ago)
Did like Aurora though nice speedy display I thought.
