Hi Tony,
You've already given this SGC a clean bill of health before
christmas when you had it running for a couple of days.
( do you remember ? )
On my QL i get a garbled initial screen with some random
lettering which apparently is the SGC startup text. It looks
like a spectacular crash. This screen is the same for both
my QL's but seeing as one has unreliable microdrives, it's
going back to the supplier along with the SGC for a
replacement which, fingers crossed, will work.
So, my SGC doesn't work with both my QL's, my GC
works with one and my trump card works with both.
Great.
No bent pins in sight.
I was hoping the ED drives could behave like normal drives
with the Trump Card but as it's only for a short while, I can
wait till I get a QL which likes my SGC then I can sell on the
GC and Trump Card.

That is Tony Tebby's routines trying to work out the drive
characteristics.

Trump Card is based on 720k disk drives. It certainly would make no
sense of formatted ED disks. It should be able to format HD disks to
720k. Not sure about ED disks, but do not waste them on it (8-)#

What do you see exactly when you try to boot with GC?
There should be no problem if TC works. Maybe you did not plug it in
fully. It is often difficult. I always put the QL vertically, which
makes it easier to align the expansion. Check no pins on the expansion
connector are bent.
