I have about 24 partitions on a 6GB hard disk for auto rotating backup
of my bulletin board (QBBS). Qubide with Mplane is so reliable I
haven't had to use backups at all since I installed Mplane (in the late
90s I think).
Qubide connects to the QL expansion port and has a through

My BBS has the following spec:
Aurora - connected to VGA monitor.
SuperGoldcard
Minerva MKII - with I2C interface and NVR clock. It has been collecting
outside temp data every 10 minutes since about 1996.
Mplane
Qubide with 256mb main disk, and 6GB 24 partition hard disk for backups.
RomDisq - which boots the machine and has the Qubide driver and stores
the current backup number.
superHermes connected to mouse, IBM kbd and 56k USR modem
Incoming fax machine using Qfax.
BBS system running PBOX.
Networked 150 foot from the office (end of the garden) to my house.
... all in an AT case.
This setup has been working non-stop now for maybe 10 years without
problems. RomDisq was added later.
