Subject: [Ql-Users] Quanta Autumn Workshop - Change of Venue

Can I add my own comments to this message as I was the person who reported
to Quanta that the Queen's Head was not a suitable venue.

I had two main concerns:

Firstly I felt we could not offer traders the facilities they needed both in
ease of loading and unloading and in sufficient space to display their
goods.

Secondly the provision of electrical sockets was poor (just two) and would
have resulted in an irresponsible and unsafe level of daisy chaining.

Let me say that this is in no way to be seen as a criticism of the West
Midlands sub group. You should bear in mind they have not run a show before
and are not as familiar with the finer points as others. In fact they
probably expected a show to be more a meeting than an activity, in which
case the venue would have been suitable.

For the same reason there has been a degree of uncertainty over areas of
responsibility, but these are now sorted out. The Quanta committee are
taking their normal role; West Midlands are responsible for the physical
provision; and I am responsible for the day program.

I have had good co-operation from both Simon Goodwin, the chairman and Mike
Bedford White, the treasurer/secretary of the sub group. Mike seemed able to
cope with most problems that I threw at him, but unfortunately there were no
solutions for the two big problems.

As far as the day program is concerned, Simon has indicated that he would be
prepared to give a presentation provided others are prepared to as well. He
is a little worried that, as he has said so much over the QL in the past, he
will have nothing new to say. I am hoping to do something, but I would like
at least one more person to volunteer.

We would also be grateful if someone could help us with a computer projector
and screen,

Best Wishes,

Geoff
