VirtualPC for Windows is not an emulator like QPC, it's a virtual machine. This means that the systems running within it run on the actual CPU and not an emulated one. Only when hardware accesses are involved does VirtualPC intervene. The advantage of this method is that it's very fast, but it also means you can only run x86 systems on an x86 machine.
