I have been doing some head scratching yesterday over a QL which refused to work with a Gold Card. When plugged in, I just got a high pitched squealing noise from the speaker.
Checked the expansion port and one of the pins was pushed through the por, so it was considerably shorter than the others. Having sorted this, the problem still existed. So, before I sent off a QL I have just sold, I thought I had better check that one - lo and behold exactly the same problem. Weird I thought! There was one common factor between the two QLs - they were both JM ROM version. I upgraded the ROM to JS ROM and the problem went away Odd, as the JM ROM was so widespread I should have thought the Gold Card would have been compatible.
