OK, I had a look at it.
It seems that the sprite definition is not quite correct:
blank_sprite
dc.w 1,0 <---- this should be $0100, 0 I think.
dc.w 1,1
dc.w 0,0
dc.l col_patt-*
dc.l patt_mask-*
dc.l 0
Not sure whether that really is important now.
