I was testing some microdrive cartridges today on a Minerva QL, with
Super Gold Card v2.49.
In order to do this, I generally use the quick FORMAT ram1_mdv1 command
(or similar) to grab all the files off the microdrive cartridge and
highlight any with bad sectors.
Now after a while, I encountered an oddity!!
I had done some testing and tried running the cartridges which had
proved successful (and enabled me to make backups). Fine, apart from I
could not get QL-Flight by Microdeal to load - it either crashed the
system or reported changed or bad medium (even in 128K dumb mode).
Presumably it does not like Minerva. I even tried it without the Super
Gold Card plugged in.
Having failed to load QL Flight successfully, I put the Super Gold Card
back into the QL, put the cartridge back into mdv2 and used FORMAT
ram1_mdv2 (as I had been doing earlier).
The QL just hung - no attempt to read mdv2 at all !!
Reset the QL - try again - same problem
DIR mdv2_ and WCOPY mdv2_ TO ram1_ both work fine - no bad sectors
However, FORMAT ram1_mdv2 fails to work no matter what I do.
FORMAT ram1_mdv1 does however work.
Any ideas what happened?
