Hi Urs,

Very good from my point of view. There was just under forty people on the
Saturday and I guess just less than thirty for the Saturday evening meal.

John and Stuart did eventually manage to find some Real Ale in the village.

The hotel was reasonable and the food edible (My room was large and I slept
very soundly so I could not complain).

Lunch on the Saturday saw most of the salad uneaten, while Sunday was the
opposite with the chips left uneaten.

As usual, the time just disappeared far too quickly and with Chis, I fixed
fewer machines that planned and spoke to fewer people than I intended,
although in hindsight we did fix many and chatted with lots.

Dilwyn produced an amazing display of information, equipment and bits and
pieces to give a full history of the QL.

Rich had masses of stuff for sale and produced two differing Samsung models of
the original QL. The SG13 model which I had never seen before had extra RF
suppression compared to other Samsung models.

The highlight as usual was the talks, although I missed some on Saturday
morning as I arrived late. I liked the Lear PCB CAD talk by Simon and Steve
Poole's talk on graphics went down very well.

Having overseas visitors made the show that little bit special, although I did
not recognise anyone from the London group. (Sorry if I missed you!).

The actual AGM had a good open discussion at the end, where some interesting
ideas came up and hopefully the group will carry them forward.

In response to a letter in the latest magazine calling for QL Today and Quanta
to be merged, a questionnaire was produced to gauge opinion and this should be
opened up to a wider audience so everyone's views can be gathered.

I now have a house full of QL bits once again, that I did not get around to
testing and so will be kept quiet for a few more months.

Talking to people at the shows is always interesting as it is the tiny
snippets of information of shared problems that lead on to other things.
Certainly, enough little projects to keep the sub-group I attend busy for the
next year.

The children enjoyed themselves by being able to write real programs on real
computers that worked and where they understood the actual code. To my shame I
had forgotten some of the commands, but they were helped by many who explained
various commands and functions easy enough for me to follow.

On display were different forms of desktop, laptop, netbook and QLs in various
guises from black boxes to Aurora systems.

I would certainly go again.

John
