I know QPC copes well if I place my laptop to sleep, but it would be
helpful to be able to save the entire emulated environment so that I
could nip in and out without a complete QL restart...

This is indeed a practical question. I use 'hibernate' on my laptop to
keep the QL going. Unfortunately, sometimes, as happened last night,
one of the FATAL windows' errors occurred and hibernation became
restart. So I lost what I was doing.
