The only Dave Johnson I know of is David Johnson, husband of former
Quanta editor Sarah Johnson. But they emigrated to Canada years ago
(this letter seems to have a USA domain name) and apart from occasional
emails from them over the years, have not AFAIK used QLs for many years
now.
Perhaps the identity will become clear as more messages arrive on the
forums!
