I'm late to the QL scene but what was the North East group like in its day? I'm from Durham :)

Peter.
Hi Peter
QuantaNE as we liked to call it was I think founded by Dennis Crow (sadly deceased), members included Ian Bruntlett a talented young lad worked for Libris software (archive software for Library's ), Derek Stewart who is still active on the QL scene, Joe Miller who set up Applications Unlimited in Bedlington, and quite a few others who's names escape me at the moment but were also talented in various fileds and Eamon Malone (who owes me a Spem keyboard(;-) Meetings were held in Dennis's house then in a church in Heaton and finaly in Joes shop in Bedlington, being in Joes shop things inevitably moved slowly towards PCs, at times I was the only one there wth a QL, Joe also had some health problems and did not want to open up the shop on Sundays for our meetings. We held one or two Quanta worshops in Tyneside which were reasonably attended but eventualy the group folded. The nearest group to me is the Scotish group held up about Edingburgh somewhere. I still have a QL but also QPC2 which I do use, however apart from this list my contact with other QLrs is nonexistant, so much so that I doubt I will renew my Quanta membership although QLtoday (which I used to subscribe to) might hold some interest to me, I stopped my subscription to Qltoday when I retired until I sorted out what my pension would support, I now think it (QLtoday) would be of more benefit to me than Quanta.

All the best - Bill (will post this also to the list as it might interest some of the members who remember Dennis an Joe ........)
