Just to bring this back on topic, Quanta members can sleep peacefully in
their beds - this year at least.
What do you mean 'sleep' - they're all too busy using their QLs all day,
aren't they?
At the AGM new treasurer, John Gilpin, announced his intention of buying a
huge stock of stamps as their present price,
I think these have to be the ones with the '1st' and '2nd' class digits
printed on them, not ones with the value printed on it. Also this won't help
overseas members as these can't be used for overseas part-payment of
postage.
That's if there are any left in shops or post offices by the time he goes
there as everyone seemed to be buying stamps when I went to Bangor
yesterday.
As Rich Mellor said this week, prices of postage for sending keyboard
membranes overseas will practically double.
Not referring to Rich in this sentence: The terms 'New improved product' or
'privatisation' to us in Britain means "THE PRICE WENT UP!" All helps
reinforce the 'Rip-off Britain" views held by some.
Royal Mail nearly fell over when they tried that disastrous name change to
'Consignia', so let's hope public pressure and consumer resistance leads to
second thoughts on the price rises.
