Followed your advice, Wolfgang, and used Revo uninstaller to "clear the decks", then installed ver 7; all went smoothly and I got the messge that it was installed. That is enough for the present. Go carefully one step at a time. To get the java version I seem to have to go into command prompt/comsole and enter java -version; it doesn't work in the window at the bottom of the page which comes up with Windiws key.
