Jiri, yes, it is perfectly possible.
And already done ;) SMSQ/E in it's current version supports background tasks not vein stopped when they have output available, i.e. more or less what PICE/PEX did. The feature can be (de)activated using the PE_BGON and PE_BGOFF keywords.
