Today's the day! My 3M felt order arrived, and I have created the .SVG file
to operate the laser cutter. I'll do some test cuts to get the correct
intensity, and then I'll churn out several hundred new felt pads which
accidentally exceed the specifications of the original pads. This material
has a lower surface friction in contact with the back of tape and will
cause significantly less wear and less drag.

If I can post a photo to the list (suitably shrunk down) I'll try to show
you all the laser cutting process.
