it will never stop. Just remember, in the days of 2.0 kernels
nobody did dream about 20G hard disks. And nobody could foresee
what interesting hacks BIOS and HD manufacturers would invent to
make such beasts work :)

Linux is supposed to work on many sorts of hardware so it is doomed
to develop - each time a new architecture is added a few things
need to be changed.. not allways to the pleasure of developers like
me who try to maintain some obscure parts of the kernel.
