Useless rambling mode on: To add to the discussion concerning QL I/O, I have another proposal (more like question). Wouldn't it further possible to make the I/O thing I was discussing in my previous message more Linux like in the user end of things (not the OS side), thus "simulating" how Linux drivers are expected to be linked into the system. That way we could even directly port Linux drivers which would take a lot of guesswork out, thus creating one software instead of ten (drivers). In other words that thing would be more an I/O HAL than a pipe to the OS....
