Well in that case Gentlemen, start your (search) engines :-) > >Maybe we should implement Vesa Local Bus on the Q60 (Ahhhhh don't shoot!) >Rattattattam :-) > > >(Worse than PCI aint it?) ;-) <EVILish Grin> >No it seems easier, at least without local busmastering ;-) Which I BTW haven't EVER found it to work reliably... well sometimes with real "reference" VLbus BM capable boards (which excludes ALL the Soyos and Asustek ones ;- - mostly American Megatrends ones (when AMI was still producing boards) and with a handful of cards. (The DTC 2236 IIRC IDE adapter and the Adaptec VL-2xxx series SCSI controllers... both of which had bioses that COULD be disabled... I always thought that VL bus though was so much easier to handle than PCI but the advent of Plug and P(l)(r)ay (substitute any letter that you feel is right:-) killed it. (EISA was even better but..... Ahhhh memories I used to have a kick-ass ESDI EISA controller with two Maxtor 150Meg drives on it when 150 Megs meant something ;-) Phoebus
