I suspect it is a simple problem of the printer drivers working, but the printer needing a message than downloading is complete and to start printing. That is what you did with the OPEN #3, par : CLOSE #3 par command. I think it was Peter Fox that said he had to press ESC with Text87 to get it printed in PCL3. Again the same idea. The printer is a Samsung ML-4500. The main reason for this choice was I could get it on favourable terms as the shop I use treats me as a business customer. (That's a privilege of running the Just Words! international emporium.) The printer boasts PCL6, Linux and Mac emulation so I thought there might be a chance it could be persuaded to talk to a QL. The emulation is done entirely through the drivers and there are few button controls. It gets good use as a PC printer for work for publishers, genealogical research including pictures etc., but so far the only QL use is the direct printing of Just Words! manuals. Geoff Wicks
