Yes, it can be done!

But, the details involve knowledge which are above-my-pay-grade ... this
"exercise" was successfully done to one of my QLs about 10+ years ago ...

Briefly:

* you will want to first de-solder the chips!

* install sockets

* change the chips on the "spider" daughterboard (i.e., create a new
daughter board with the proper chips).
