People,

don't forget that just because you can now get your hands on the source code
for SMSQ, that everything else is free too. This is not the case. Because
I've been working on the source and sending emails to the list, I've been
asked to supply the tools to do the assembling and linking. I cannot do this
because these tools are still commercial products.

Tony Tebby uses QMAC to assemble, his own linker to link (but Marcel says
that QLINK will work too) and to make life easier for himself, he uses QMAKE
to build everything easily. I'm assuming he paid for these tools himself -
so why shouldn't we?

Please don't send me any more emails asking for QMAC etc - send them to
Quanta.
For QMAKE, contact Jochen Merz.

Alternatively, if you absolutely must have free tools, why not download Dave
Walker's C68 package and convert the source to use AS68, ld and make as
supplied in that package. Or, if you don't use QPC, get hold of George
Gwilt's excellent GWASS - but you may have to rewrite the macros Tony uses
to suit the macro language of GWASS.

(Just remember that this won't be acceptable as part of the official source
under the advice given in the Style Guide from Marcel.)

Thanks.

Regards,
Norman.
