Since I've started back at D&D - I haven't worked for D&D for a few months except for organizing components which isn't work - I have looked at what we actually do regarding pricing of O/S and this is what we have done in the past and now.
Our O/S is supplied on 2 EPROMs. The charge for 2 EPROMs and burning code onto them is 10GBP. Example. We have sold Q60s without SMSQ/E and the charge for 2 EPROMs and burning the code has been and still is 10GBP, not an unreasonable price I hope you agree. But when we sell SMSQ/E the charge is the same 10GBP. Technically it seems that we do not take money from the customer for SMSQ/E at all. As the amount for SMSQ/E is insignificant on the grand scale of things such as the sale of a complete system we disregard the SMSQ/E price so as to produce an easier to read pricing structure for the customer i.e. 10GBP for a running O/S, whatever it is. The fault lies in the avdert - see QL Today - in the price list it states: SMSQ/E is 10GBP That means when we supply QDOS Classic on EPROMs as the boot-up O/S we should not charge for the 2 EPROMs and burning (+ EPROM postage to us etc.). Well that does not happen, 10GBP is charged. The advert promotes SMSQ/E as the prefered O/S in this respect. This must change to reflect what is really happening. Something like this: O/S EPROMs = 10GBP This will apply to standard size EPROMs burned with the O/S of your choice (not limited to SMSQ/E or QDOS Classic, others are invited) and are attached to the sale of a Q60. EPROM burning on its own is a different matter when not attached to the initial sale of a Q60. We have never burned EPROMs only for a customer and no price exists for it, I'll think about that one. Being a reseller and all the rest of the mess is separate from the pricing structure statement above. I will reorganise the advert and remove this inaccuracy. Dennis - D&D Systems
