Thanks to everyone who assisted on and off list with the problems downloading the QL manual files from the World Of Spectrum site (Marcel, Mike, Rich etc)
The problem turned out to be with downloading PDF files and had nothing (AFAIK) to do with large files. After a while I realised I could download zipped files OK. Once I got the Adobe/IE bit updated I managed to download it OK. -- Dilwyn Jones
