Thanks to all those who commented on the type of "expression" which would be preferred in GWASS. I have just completed  inserting a new option in GWASS which is to use normal expressions, complete with undetermined labels, brackets and proper precedence of operators.

For those interested a beta test version of GWASS should soon be on the SQLUG website.

Also I realised the other day that the assembly of GWASS itself uses two of the QMAC macros which form part of the SMSQ/E set. The macros have, of course, been suitably amended for GWASS.
