Sorry to hear that Syd has received hate mail. I cold not think of a nicer person. He has the unique distinction of having held all three officer positions on the Quanta committee. He was Treasurer in 1989, Chairman the year after and then Secretary for one year. Being a company secretary he did a lot to formalize the affairs of Quanta. He obtained exemption from VAT, got the Inland Revenue to accept Quanta as a friendly society and produced Quanta's first set of audited accounts. I often helped him on the Quanta stand at the Sinclair shows in the Horticultural Hall when it was not unusual to cash up over �2,000.00 on the day. Far too much of it on credit card slips that had to be written up �14.00 at a time afterwards. Oh happy days!
