I've followed the threads about the number of shows next year with
great interest.

With it being the 20th anniversary of the QL, it's great to see so
many shows being mooted over the next 12-18 months, I only hope they
are fairly evenly spread so that QLers world wide can get to one if
they wish.

People in several countries have for long been very, very supportive
in organising and attending shows, and this is probably at least part
of the secret of the longevity of the QL.

* Al Boehm and NASQLUG members in North America

* The members of the Dutch group and their meetings in Eindhoven

* Davide Santachiara and others in Italy

* Jochen and many others in Germany

* The members of QLCF in Paris and France generally

* and others in various countries like Spain, Sweden, Belgium etc of
course

Writing that made me feel like we are some kind of underground
terrorist group or something! We have a common aim (furtherance of the
QL, an obscure old computer as far as non-QLers are concerned) and
contacts worldwide! We operate both independently and together - via
this mailing list, websites, via Quanta, QL Today and via the devoted
remaining QL traders. It's nearly 20 years since the QL was last
manufactured, yet it's almost unreal that there's still so much
interest and activity.

I very much hope that a way will be found to mark the 20th anniversary
somehow with as many people involved as possible. The QL has been such
a significant part of the lives of people like me over the last 10-20
years that I hope we won't let the opportunity to celebrate 20 years
go to waste!
