Well, I  was thinking more in terms of how many programs allow you to
access numbered PAR ports - some software only allows you to access
SER1, SER2 or PAR for example.

A Quill configured for SER1 for example will allow you to print to
_PAR, but never tried it with _PAR1 or _PAR2 (note the leading
underscore, I think you can get Quill to access QL network in the same
way with the network name preceded by an underscore IIRC.
