Yes, that's it. No need to weep. QLandkarte GT is taking over.

GT can do Garmin map upload with the today's release. I rewrote the gmapsupp
generator. This time it uses a temp. file to store the result. Good for all
those netbook lovers.

But there is one caveat. I had to add a 2nd map upload API that takes a file.
Thus if your device is not derived from the GPSMap60CSx you have to port that
to your driver.

And if you mess with the drivers, I would like to ask you to port it to the
new Garmin driver project.

I really want to emphasize this. Let's do not stick around with that old code
for too long. I spent more than a weekend for GT. Just do me a favour and
spend a weekend for the migration. It's the only part I can't do, thus I need
your help.

I have done the GPSMap60CSx for Linux as a template. I need someone to add and
test the plugin loader code for Win32 and OSX. And of course to port the
driver to those two OS. I think once it is done with one driver it's easy to
do with all others.

Now, what's new next to map upload?

You can use DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data on all maps, now. Simply right
click on the map in the map tool view. The DEM data must be 16bit geotiff
with a meter based projection.

By adding DEM to vector maps you can use them with 3D view.

You can overlay any map with a vector map. Thus you can verify OSM maps with a
topographic raster map. Or you can add elevation lines to a street map. To
enable a map as overlay you have to click on the left column (M == mode) in
the map tool view.

And of course loads of little bug fixes, some eye candy and many structural
changes to boost performance.

Enjoy GT, it's fun

Oliver
