Hello Jose,

I know about gpsbabel and the page you mention. I have tried converting
a .gpx file to a .tcx file with the following simple command:

   gpsbabel -i gpx -f myfile.gpx -o gtrnctr -F myfile.tcx

or, after some googling around, the more advanced command

   gpsbabel -i gpx -f myfile.gpx -x simplify,count=50 -x
transform,rte=trk -r -o gtrnctr,sport=Running -F myfile.tcx

Unfortunately, I cannot read the resulting .tcx file into my Garmin
Training Center (latest version). I get the error

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32340538/simple_tcx_error.JPG

If I compare the .tcx files generated with gpsbabel to the ones
generated from http://www.gpsies.com/convert.do then I notice that
within each <Trackpoint> element, gpsbabel doesn't write a <Time>,
<AltitudeMeters> nor <DistanceMeters> element.

Note that the <Time> and <DistanceMeters> elements are probably
necessary to be able to use the Virtual Partner technology from Garmin
(how else could you race against a virtual partner that doesn't have a
speed...).

So... I'm not sure if gpsbabel is able to generate .tcx files that have
these <Time>, <AltitudeMeters> and <DistanceMeters> elements... if
anybody knows a solution, please let me know!

If nobody knows a solution with gpsbabel, then i still think it might be
something to incorporate into future versions of QLandkarteGT, isn't it
(or adapt gpsbabel so it can write this info into a .tcx file)?

Kind regards,
Bart
