Ah, ok. This is a missing concept in Linux that took me a while to realize. When I was implementing drag-n-drop I tried to drop the stuff on the icon in the task bar. But you have to hoover above the icon, wait until the window is raised and drop it in the window. :/ Not nice. But I never use drag-n-drop anyway.
