Hi Lars,

I try to make a track with height information to a planned bicycle tour.
I tried using debians qlandkartegt 1.2.3 and on windows qlandkartegt 1.3.2.
Starting point is N46° 27.965 E015° 46.084 and end point is N45° 48.988
E015° 50.322

I create a route from one to another, I use openrouteservice to create a
bicycle tour/route between them.
Now I use the context menu and try to make a track out of it - with
height infomation every 100m. As the opencyclemap I use does not have
height information readable for QLandkarteGT, I need to use the builtin
geonames.org feature.

the "demo" user (which is what QLGT apparently uses) on geonames.org seems to have no credit left:

http://api.geonames.org/srtm3?lat=50.01&lng=10.2&username=demo&style=full:

Error: the daily limit of 30000 credits demo has been exceeded. Please throttle your requests or use the commercial service.

But even if I move the points slightly around, I just get heights of 0
or 4 meter, nothing more. In the end I get a lot of points, altering
between 0 and 4 meter, but not the real data.

Where to look for problems? Any way to make it fine working?

your options are:
- register at geonames.org and hack QLGT to use your username instead
(choose a username<=4 characters, so you can just edit the binary
  with e.g. "vi -b /usr/bin/qlandkartegt" ;-))
- get SRTM data from http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org
- try again later/tomorrow ;-)

I even tried a little way in Graz. 7km, short way, same problem.

MfG,
Lars Schimmer
